| It's been a while... as usual. I got seriously ill and was in the hospital due to either a hormonal imbalance or a probable miscarriage. I have never been in the hospital before, or ever been really sick, and suddenly being the patient instead of the nurse was really an eye opening experience. After 8 sticks to get an IV started, I received two blood transfusions, which are very painful, lots of fluids, hormones, Lortab, which I had never had before, and... Lasix. Anyone who has ever been given Lasix before knows exactly why I have that face there! Anyway, I have fully recovered, and I'm back to my old self again. By the grace of God, I passed my psychiatric clinical. It was by far the most challenging nursing class I have had yet. It wasn't that the material was difficult, it was more like I was just not interested in it at all. We have clinical conferences after every clinical day, and on the last psych day, the instructor asked everyone to share one significant thing they had learned during the semester. My answer was that I learned that I absolutely do not ever want to be a psychiatric nurse. She thought my answer was funny... I was actually very serious. I'm in my second Medical / Surgical clinical now, and so far, I'm enjoying it. There are 10 students in this rotation, so it takes forever to get anything accomplished due to only having one instructor. It beats psych any day though! I just figured I'd update since it's been forever. I'm still alive and kickin'... and there's just 10 days left of classes in this semester! Yay... 3 level, here I come. |
